Gavilan College has launched a new tool that makes college data readily available and easy to access for anyone who is interested. A link for GavDATA, short for Gavilan Data Analytics Tool Access, can be found on the college homepage. GavDATA is powered by Higher Ed Profiles.

To use GavDATA, go to www.gavilan.edu, and scroll down to the GavDATA logo. Click on the image link, select “Log in as Guest,” and you will land at the college Factbook, with aggregated information on enrollment, courses, employees, student outcomes, and transfers. Information can be viewed online, downloaded in PDF-format, and printed or saved to the user’s computer. The Factbook is updated once per academic term.

In addition to making data available to the public, GavDATA has modules that will help staff to improve the processes of scheduling, program review, evaluation, and outcomes tracking, that will be rolled out over the coming months.

Dr. Peter Wruck, Gavilan College’s director of institutional research, describes the tool as “Gavilan’s new fully-interactive and extremely customizable data visualization software. GavDATA allows users to evaluate and customize reports for dozens of outcomes using hundreds of filters to look at different subgroups of students.” These reports are used in accreditation, program evaluation, and grant applications and reports.
