SUMMARY:Amateur Radio Events September 30 - October 2
DESCRIPTION:The weekend of Sept 30 Oct 2 2022 offers three events for amateur radio operators in San Benito County. \nFirst on the list of events is the California QSO Party (CQP).  For those of you who don’t know\, a QSO Party is when amateur radio operators try to contact as many other operators living in a specific location. For the CQP\, operators from all over the world will try to contact as many operators as possible from all 58 counties in California. It starts on Saturday morning and ends on Sunday afternoon.  The San Benito County Amateur Radio Association (SBCARA) will set up the N6SBC station and operate from the county fair. \nThis leads to the second weekend event: the San Benito County Fair.  The SBCARA will be at the fair to answer your questions about amateur radio\, how they help in emergencies\, and how to get licensed. \nAnd finally\, October 1st is the Simulated Emergency Test (SET) run by the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) throughout the United States.  During the SET\, radio operators will be given tasks similar to what they would receive during a real emergency. \nFor information on how to get involved with amateur radio in San Benito County\, please visit their website at https://sbcara.org

Each night\, a different musical act will have fairgoers on their feet\, dancing in the aisles and signing along. \n  \nFriday at 7:30 pm: Loose Five \nLoose Five Band was created by five local musicians from Hollister\, CA. On drums\, Fred Rautmann. Bass guitar and vocals\, Rick Silva. Angelo Loomis on rhythm lead guitar and lead vocals. Dave Alvernaz on rhythm lead guitar and lead vocals. Nick Caputo on lead guitar and lead vocals. They enjoy bringing classic\, current and some original songs to the beautiful town they grew up in and love. \n  \nSaturday at 7:30 pm: Left of Centre \nLeft of Centre is based in Reno and Las Vegas\, Nevada. They were the official house band at “Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill\,” in Las Vegas\, for 12 years until it closed. LOC plays everything from Waylon to Whitesnake with true conviction. They believe there are only two types of music\, GOOD and BAD. They have been voted Entertainer of the year\, Musicians of the year\, Best Album and Best Band in multiple states and have shared the stage with Kenny Chesney\, Sammy Hagar\, Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Heart\, Clay Walker\, Lee Ann Rimes\, Maroon 5\, Joan Jett\, Easton Corbin\, Joe Nichols\, Ratt\, Quiet Riot\, Cinderella\, Jarrod Niemann\, Lee Brice\, Diamond Rio\, Tracy Lawrence\, Jake Owen\, and the list goes on and on. \n  \nSunday at 4:30 pm: A Tribute to Luke Bryan \nOur Luke Bryan Tribute Artist is Chad Collins from Las Vegas\, NV. Chad was born in\nNashville\, TN and has been singing his entire life. In addition to the voice\, and that Luke Bryan smile\, Chad has perfected Luke’s signature dance moves. The large skulls are $48 and include 3 succulents\, and the small skull is $22.00 and includes 1 succulent. Both include the moss and rocks. So grab your workmates for our holiday happy hour and come on down! We do not allow outside beverages on the property at any time. We do have a very large selection of wine\, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Please feel free to bring your own snacks or we can make you an amazing charcuterie.
