DESCRIPTION:The annual San Benito County Office of Education STEAM Expo will be held on Thursday\, March 13\, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Building (649 San Benito Street) in Downtown Hollister. \nThe SBCOE STEAM Expo is an exciting event that combines the thrill of a science fair with interactive\, hands-on learning for all ages. Families can explore a wide range of activities\, from engaging science experiments to creative play stations\, all designed to spark curiosity and inspire learning in science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, and\nmathematics. Attendees will also receive a student gift bag filled with free STEAM kits and fun surprises. This family-friendly event offers something for everyone\, making it the perfect night for both learning and play!\nThe STEAM Expo is open to all students across San Benito County\, including:\nPublic Schools\nPrivate Schools\nHomeschools\nStudents of all grade levels are invited to present their projects and demonstrations in the following categories:\nDemonstrations: Show how something works in a captivating way!\nExperiments: Engage your peers with hands-on science!\no Guidelines for Traditional Experimental Projects\nMath Projects: Explore the world of mathematics through creative presentations!\nArt Projects: Express your creativity and artistic skills! \nHands-On STEAM Activities: Participate in interactive sessions and demonstrations throughout the event led by the following organizations:\n– IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Circuit Building Activity\n– USDA-NRCS  Archeologist Kelly Ervin – Excavation Activity\n– San Benito Robotics Sumo Bot Build and Battle Station\n– Hollister Fire Department  Fire Triangle/ Fire Pump and Calculations\n– Recology Art Poster Contest\n– Dr. Larry Barr – Hands-on Chemistry\n– RAFT – Makers Space \n– Hollister Hills – Wildlife Exhibit\n-San Benito County – PIO Rosemerry Dere – Video Production/Social Media\n-Julia Robinson Math Festival – Math Games\n-San Benito County Free Library – Lego Challenge\n-The Tech Interactive – Design Challenge \nAll participants are eligible for various awards\, with special recognition for traditional science fair projects that qualify for the California State competition.
