Bassendine’s photographs are accompanied by powerful personal statements from Native community members calling attention to cultural connections to the land\, rematriation (restoring the relationship between Indigenous people and their ancestral land)\, and climate change.” \nAs an artist\, Bassendine has always been intrigued by human relationships — especially how they impact the discovery of identity and belonging within one’s culture and the wider world. DESCRIPTION:100 Dancers from JMM Dance Co. to perform at Family Wellbeing Festival on March 20 in Hollister. \nMore than 100 dancers from five public schools representing the nonprofit JMM Dance Co. will perform at the Family Wellbeing Festival set for March 20 in Hollister. \nThe free event\, titled “Empowering Families: Thriving in Your Community\,” the first-ever countywide event offering mental health and wellness resources for all ages\, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday\, March 20\, at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall\, 649 San Benito St.\, in Hollister. \nThe San Benito County Office of Education is leading the Family Wellbeing Festival event in partnership with San Benito County Behavioral Health and with participation from JMM Dance Co. and local and state agencies. This first countywide Family Wellbeing Festival is a community-driven effort to provide families with access to essential mental health\, wellness\, and social-emotional resources\, ensuring that every child and family in San Benito County has the support they need to thrive\, according to Gwen Baquiran\, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for San Benito COE\, who is one of the lead organizers of the event. \nThe evening will start with a free dinner while families hear from experts in a multitude of wellbeing categories and watch performances based around a theme of mental health and wellness. \nParticipants will then have the option to choose between mindfulness workshops\, stress management workshops or family-friendly wellness activities.
