AAUW Membership Luncheon

Mark your calendars for a thought-provoking and delightful lunch on Saturday, May 19th with the Gilroy Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women). The featured speaker will be Julie Reynolds Martinez, investigative journalist. Julie was a staff writer at the Monterey County Herald for ten years. Her reporting has appeared on PBS, NPR, Discovery Channel, The Nation and many other media outlets. In 2009 she was selected as a Nieman Fellow at Harvard and in 2011 as a Steinbeck Fellow at San Jose State. Julie is a co-founder of Voices of Monterey Bay, an online source of news and commentary for the Central Coast.

Luncheon guests may buy tickets for the handmade king sized blue and white quilt and other items on display. The winner of this year’s beautiful quilt will be announced at the close of the luncheon. Monies raised will go to the AAUW local scholarship fund. Membership in AAUW is open to all who have Associate, Baccalaureate or RN degrees. Nationally AAUW supports education and equality for women. The Gilroy Branch supports Tech Trek summer camp at Stanford for middle school girls, high school and community college scholarships.
