DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome to this casual presentation and discussion hosted by Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP).  \nLEARN ABOUT: What MBCP Means for You • 2018 Automatic Enrollment California’s Community Choice Energy Model • Community Impact!  \nMonterey Bay Community Power is a new\, locally-controlled public agency providing carbon-free electricity to residents and businesses in Monterey\, San Benito\, and Santa Cruz counties at a cost lower than PG&E. MBCP is a Community Choice Energy agency\, a local energy model succeeding elsewhere in California and the U.S. PG&E will continue to deliver electricity\, maintain infrastructure\, send bills and provide customer service. Customers will be automatically enrolled with MBCP unless they choose to opt-out and return to PG&E. MBCP customers will receive a 3% rebate on their total electric generation costs. \nThe event will be held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Hollister this Wednesday from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM.

SUMMARY:San Juan Bautista Historic Walking Trail Ribbon Cutting April 21
DESCRIPTION:YOU’RE INVITED – Saturday\, April 21st 10:30 a.m. as we unveil the San Juan Bautista Historic Walking Trail of 49 historically significant sites that make up the fabric of our historic City. \nPeople are fascinated by\, proud of and curious about the history of San Juan Bautista. Visitors from around the globe come here to view the buildings in the city's historical district. Each of the many buildings identified as historic on the National Registry of Historic Places have tales to tell! \nTo help in the accurate telling of these stories\, several representatives of local community groups: Rozas House\, Inc.\, the San Juan Bautista Historical Society\, the San Juan Committee and City of San Juan Bautista\, formed a committee in February 2017 with the purpose of identifying the City's historic buildings with a Historic Walking Trail Map patterned after the map that has been available to visitors for years\, Historic Plaques for the buildings located in the Third Street Historic Commercial District and\, the committee is taking advantage of 21st technology by placing a QR code on the plaques\, which will link to a website with a detailed history and photographs\, old and new\, for each building. \nA project like this would not be possible without funding. The committee has been funded in part by a community impact grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County and grants from the San Juan Bautista City Council\, County Supervisor Anthony Botelho\,  the San Juan Bautista Historical Society\, and local business True Leaf Farms. Additional funds to complete a second phase of the project are needed and fundraising is underway. You Can.” In order to help the residents of San Benito County prepare for a disaster and increase the overall resilience of our community\, the Office of Emergency Services will be hosting two (2) Personal Emergency Preparedness workshops during the month of September.
