SUMMARY:San Juan Bautista Historic Walking Trail Ribbon Cutting April 21
DESCRIPTION:YOU’RE INVITED – Saturday\, April 21st 10:30 a.m. as we unveil the San Juan Bautista Historic Walking Trail of 49 historically significant sites that make up the fabric of our historic City. \nPeople are fascinated by\, proud of and curious about the history of San Juan Bautista. Visitors from around the globe come here to view the buildings in the city's historical district. Each of the many buildings identified as historic on the National Registry of Historic Places have tales to tell! \nTo help in the accurate telling of these stories\, several representatives of local community groups: Rozas House\, Inc.\, the San Juan Bautista Historical Society\, the San Juan Committee and City of San Juan Bautista\, formed a committee in February 2017 with the purpose of identifying the City's historic buildings with a Historic Walking Trail Map patterned after the map that has been available to visitors for years\, Historic Plaques for the buildings located in the Third Street Historic Commercial District and\, the committee is taking advantage of 21st technology by placing a QR code on the plaques\, which will link to a website with a detailed history and photographs\, old and new\, for each building. \nA project like this would not be possible without funding. The committee has been funded in part by a community impact grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County and grants from the San Juan Bautista City Council\, County Supervisor Anthony Botelho\,  the San Juan Bautista Historical Society\, and local business True Leaf Farms. Additional funds to complete a second phase of the project are needed and fundraising is underway. A panel of experts will be providing briefings and on hand to answer questions including Congress Member Jimmy Panetta\, State Assembly Member Anna Caballero\, San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority Water Policy Administrator Ara Azhderian\, San Benito County Water District General Manager Jeff Cattaneo\, Sunnyslope County Water District General Manager Don Ridenhour\, Aromas Water District General Manager Vicki Morris\, Todd Groundwater President Dr. Iris Priestaf\, Veolia Hollister Domestic Water Recycling Facility Project Manager Jim Heitzman\, Grower Shipper Association Vice President Abby Taylor-Silva\, San Benito County Farm Bureau Past President and farmer Richard Bianchi\, Water Resources Association of San Benito County Water Conservation Program Manager Shawn Novack\, Hollister City Manager Bill Avera and San Juan Bautista City Manager Roger Grimsley. \nEvent sponsors include the San Benito County Farm Bureau\, Veolia Water North America\, Central Ag Supply\, Pacific Scientific\, Graniterock\, Gavilan College\, Sierra Pacific Associates\, TriCal\, Inc.\, Todd Groundwater and The Garden Mart. \nThe event will be hosted from 7:30AM to 11:00AM on Friday\, April 21 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club located at 3825 Union Road in Hollister and includes a light breakfast.
