Land Conservation Tools for Ranchers

The San Benito Working Landscapes Group Presents Land Conservation Tools for Ranchers --Part I: Conservation Banking

Join us from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the San Benito County Water District, 30 Mansfield Road in Hollister to hear guest speaker Jeff Phillips, Senior Fish and Wildlife Biologist and Conservation Banking Coordinator with the US Fish & Wildlife Service.  Phillips’ talk will focus on conservation banking, including the benefits of banks for landowners, and the example of the recently formed Sparling Ranch Conservation Bank near Hollister. 

The first hour of the meeting will consist of guest presentation followed by Q&A / discussion on the topic of conservation banking and other mechanisms for protecting rangeland.  The second hour will be devoted to San Benito Working Landscapes Group partner updates and discussion items related to voluntary conservation of and on working ranches and farms in San Benito County and adjacent areas.
