SUMMARY:The Story of Frank Delos Wolfe\, Noted Architect
DESCRIPTION:San Jose architect Frank Delos Wolfe was one of the most prolific architects in the country at the turn of the 20th century\, responsible for as many as 1\,000 structures in Northern California\, including San Benito County. \nFrom the Wapple House in 1908 to the Paicines Ranch in 1913 to a number of Mediterranean Revival homes in the 1920s\, Frank Wolfe helped shape the residential landscape of Hollister and its surroundings. One of his earliest Prairie homes was built in Hollister in 1912 for Gertrude Wapple’s parents\, Mary and Thomas McCloskey. \nKrista Van Laan is the author of the new book\, “Frank Delos Wolfe: California Prairie Architecture\,” and on September 24\, she will present the story of the Prairie homes and the clients who commissioned them\, with a focus on the work Wolfe did in San Benito County. Signed books will be available for $39.95 for those who wish to purchase them.

SUMMARY:12 O'Clock High Small Business Leadership Summit
DESCRIPTION:The CSUMB Small Business Development Center and management consulting firm JL White International have joined resources to offer this exciting and specialized executive level workshop to help your small business excel in today's diverse global economy. \nYou are personally invited to take part in a unique leadership summit designed specifically to help your small business achieve long-term sustainable success.Twelve O' Clock High is a selective one-day immersion program that addresses specific challenges facing small business owners and entrepreneurs that will provide you with a strategy for success in order to achieve increased revenue\, earnings and cash flow within your organization. \nAs a business owner you are directly responsible for the success and vitality of your company and employees. Your leadership inspires employees to work to their highest potential\, which ultimately drives your company to success. \nTrue leaders understand that strong leadership empowers everyone to make a difference to your bottom line. But to successfully develop a leadership culture within your firm\, you must first understand one fundamental concept – there is no "one-size-fits-all" path or strategy. \nIt begins with my one-day\, roll-up-your-sleeves Twelve O' Clock High Leadership Workshop. Co-hosted by JL White International and the CSUMB Small Business Development Center (SBDC)\, the program has been tailored just for small business owners to help improve earnings\, cash flow and productivity. \nOver the course of the day we will examine the three most important challenges your company faces. Through active participation\, dialogue\, and practice\, you will leave with strategies designed to address the three issues along with a specific action plan to address the number one challenge facing your company. In the month following the program\, we offer continued communication and group support to help you continue to meet and exceed your goals. The CSUMB SBDC also offers support as well as access to business incentive programs that will further support your company's growth and sustainability. \nTwelve O' Clock High is a cinematic classic that is required viewing at all U.S. service academies and is widely regarded as an essential teaching tool for leadership styles and effectiveness.  In the seminar I will use scenes from the film to examine leadership\, management styles\, communication\, productivity\, and effective strategizing within an organization.   \nPrior to the seminar you will complete an organizational overview survey designed to assess your strengths\, weaknesses\, opportunities\, and threats (SWOT). Your SWOT survey will be interpreted and organized into a plan of action tailored specifically to your businesses needs. You will also complete a DISC report\, a behavioral analysis survey that will provide us with the information needed to maximize your strengths in order to contribute to your organizational goals.   \nThe process then continues for one month with follow-ups to ensure profit-driven activities that solve your greatest business challenges. The approach is to develop the complete person as a leader. It is those leaders\, across all positions in your company who are equipped to contribute directly to the bottom line. \nParticipants of the Twelve O' Clock High process are individuals that want to: \n\nBecome better decision-makers  \nAdd value in tough markets  \nAccelerate earnings growth  \nCreate customers for life  \nStreamline efforts  \nEnsure profit-driven activity  \nGenerate\, track\, & report goals and achievements\n\nYour investment for the process is just $1250 per participant and includes the following plus more: \n\nPre-Workshop and SWOT Analysis  \nDISC Report  \nAll Course Materials  \nContinental Breakfast\, Lunch and Breaks  \nFollow-Up Coaching-30 Days  \nGroup Webcasts\, and Teleseminar Q&A's  \nIndividual Coaching and Support by Email  \nOn-going support & access to business growth incentives through the SBDC\n\nDon't miss this high powered\, high-octane event!\nJoin me on September 19\, 2014 at Marina\, California and start building a culture of leadership at your small business. \nIt's important to take the time to recharge\, reenergize\, and refocus your personal and professional strategy for success. Developing a culture of leadership helps create an environment that will support your company's vision and mission. With my one-day Twelve O' Clock High Leadership Development Program for Small Business Owners\, you can do just that! \nTo register for this exciting program\, or for more information on the Twelve O' Clock High process\, please visit 12High.com.

SUMMARY:Special Screening - The Mendoza Line
DESCRIPTION:INDEPENDENT FEATURE FILM FOCUSES ON MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL\, HISPANIC AND IMMIGRATION ISSUES AND CO-STARS HOLLISTER ACTOR AND ARTS ACTIVIST CESAR FLORES. \nThe new feature length baseball themed drama “The Mendoza Line” will be screened for one night only on July 30th at 7pm at the Premier Cinemas 641 McCray St.\,Hollister\, CA 95023.\nThe movie stars Juan Carlos Arenas with supporting roles by Lon Sierra\, HOLLISTER ACTOR Cesar Flores \, Laurie Burke\, Dawayne Jordan\, and Valentina Lugo. \nThe movie centers around Ricardo Perez\, a low round draft pick struggling through his third year in A-ball as a back-up catcher\, barely hitting above The Mendoza Line (.200). His marriage is on the rocks and while he was brought to the United States as a baby\, his status as an undocumented immigrant is a constant weight on his young shoulders. \nThe Mendoza Line takes place in the span of a few days after the June draft when a handful of players will be released to make way for the newest prospects. This is not a fake baseball movie with a predictable melodramatic “big game” ending. It is the dramatic and comedic reality of minor league baseball where more than just wins and losses are at stake. It not only gives us an inside look at life in the lower minor leagues\, but explores social issues that go beyond baseball. In sports\, personal relationships collide with the harsh business realities of\, “What have you done for me lately?” \nA portion of the proceeds will benefit The San Benito Arts Council.\nTICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR\, ON-LINE AT EVENTBRITE (search “The Mendoza Line”) or by phone at 408-804-3235. \nYou can learn more about The Mendoza Line at www.TheMendozaLineMovie.com. Follow the cast\, crew and fans of The Mendoza Line at www.Facebook.com/TheMendozaLine.\nThe Director and any cast members are available for all media interviews. \nTHE MENDOZA LINE IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR ON-LINE RENTAL OR PURCHASE AT https://vimeo.com/ondemand/themendozaline
