SUMMARY:Garcia Boys Fundraiser Dinner Dance
DESCRIPTION:Emilio and Marcos Garcia children of Gilbert and Allison Garcia\, were both born with neurological disabilities. Emilio\, 4 yrs old and Marcos 1 yr old have been diagnosed with hypotonia which causes muscle tone weakness. That requires an extensive of physical\, occupational and speech therapy. Emilio has also been diagnosed with apraxia\, which is congnitive motor planning issue. Emilio attends speech therapy four times weekly\, occupational weekly and is also enrolled in the special educate program in the school district. Marcos attends physical therapy twince weekly\, occupational therapy weekly and hope to be enrolled in the early start program in the fall. The Boys are having a Dinner Dance Fundraiser on June 21st at Paines Resturant from 5-10\, tickets are $35 ea or table of 8 for $250. There will be a complimentary one hour wine tasting\, chicken dinner\, DJ\, raffle and silent auction. Martin Rajkovich has generously donated a matching dollar for dollar grant up to $5000.00. For more information call 1-800-838-3006. \nJourney through cold\, dark desert nights with two cousins desperately dreaming of a better future beyond the iron fence that marks la frontera.  Fleeing sorrow and hopelessness\, they follow coyotes with two legs and four\, stepping over dried bones scorched by the sun\, chased by the wind that murmurs tales of Santa Muerte.  Amid the dangers that lurk\, ready to pounce\, in that arid expanse they risk their lives with no one to trust but each other. Will their steps lead to the dreams they seek or vanish in the desert sands like so many before?  Cuentame Coyote was developed after an intensive research trip to the Tohono O’odham reservation in Arizona. Sacred stories combined with migrant tales of the dangers of dehydration\, snakebite and scorpions in the desolate 100 degree desert heat fuel the storyline of this new Milagro work.  Erubiel Valladares joins Milagro this season in the title role of Coyote.  Ajai Terrazas Tripathi and Alida Holquín Wilson-Gunn are the two cousins and play various roles. \nJoin Milagro Theatre Founding Director\, Dañel Malan\, for a FREE “Reality Theatre” workshop\, in search of Aztlan.  For the 2015 season\, Lakin Valdez of Teatro Campesino\, will write and direct this new work created from authentic stories from los lideres del moviemento.   Malan is partnering with Valdez in the development of Searching for Aztlan\, which focuses on the roles that women have played in the history of los MEChistAs and into the future of Latinidad.  Come share your story and be a part of the collaborative process of creating an original play on Saturday May 17th from 2 – 4 pm!  This workshop is the first of three\, with the following two happening in Portland and Chicago.  Searching for Aztlan\, will debut at the Milagro Theatre in January\, then tour the country through November of 2015. SUMMARY:SJB Heritage Rose Tour & Propagation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative walking tour of the heritage roses (some of which date back to Civil War days) at the San Juan Bautista District Cemetery (70 Monterey Street).  The tour will be led by Jill Perry\, Curator of the Collection at the Heritage Rose Garden in San Jose; joining her will be Jeri Jennings\, National Convener for the Heritage Roses Group.   After touring the roses and collecting some cuttings\, we will then proceed to the lovely garden of the historic Marentis House (45 Monterey Street)  for a propagation workshop.  Bring a hat\, water\, pencil and paper and maybe clippers and gloves and get ready for a "scent"sational day!  We will meet at the bottom of the Cemetery to start the tour.  Contact Wanda to sign up for the tour (helpful but not required) or with questions: wguibert@gmail.com or (831) 623-1672.  Please consider joining the newly formed San Juan Bautista Heritage Rose Group.

SUMMARY:5th Annual Mari's FUNd Day BBQ Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Chamberlain’s Children Center is hosting its 5th Annual Mari’s FUNd Day BBQ Fundraiser on May 17th\, 2014 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at the Mari Davis Memorial Park and Pavilion located on 1850 San Benito Street in Hollister. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children. All members of the public are invited.  The BBQ lunch\, provided by Hollister Rotary\, will be served from 12:30PM to 1:30PM only. It will include Tri Tip\, chuck wagon beans\, tossed salad\, bread & drink for adults and hot dog\, chips\, and a drink for children. In addition to the auction\, there will be a raffle\, children’s activities\, and live entertainment. Come out and join us for some fun while we raise money to support the children in our care!
