You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. \nDesignated as a federal holiday in 1938 MLK Jr. Day celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. This day honors his legacy by being the only federal holiday recognized as a national day of service that encourages citizens to be empowered and get involved with their communities. \nJoin Pinnacles as we make it a day on and not a day off with a service project in the park on January 16th.  The service project will start at 9 am this Monday. Meet at the East Entrance Visitor Center at 8:30 am for registration.  To reflect Dr. King’s love for community\, Pinnacles Partnership is partnering with the San Benito Community Food Bank for the event. There will be a donation bin for canned goods at the registration table. Volunteers are encouraged to bring nonperishable items to donate. \nThe service project will be three hours long wrapping up at noon. Come prepared with sturdy shoes\, a water bottle and a great attitude. All tools and necessary personal protection equipment will be provided by the park as well as water. Service projects are family friendly. All are welcome! \nGroups over 15 please register. DESCRIPTION:The San Benito Integrated Waste Management Regional Agency sponsors Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection days.  These events serve the cities of Hollister\, San Juan Bautista\, and the unincorporated areas of San Benito County. The purpose is for residents of San Benito County to lawfully dispose of household hazardous waste that is not accepted by the landfill. Hazardous wastes are any unused or leftover portions of products containing toxic chemicals\, batteries\, and fluorescent bulbs. There is no charge for dropping off this waste. This program is limited to household hazardous waste generated by residential use. Businesses should email jsimmons@cosb.us for disposal information. The limit is either 15 gallons (total) or 125 pounds of material per trip. \n3rd Saturday of Each Month \n9 am – Noon \nJohn Smith Road Landfill \n2650 John Smith Road \nHollister\, CA  95023 \nWhat is Household Hazardous Waste? \nAny hazardous waste that you use in your home\, yard\, or garage\, including automotive fluids (oil\, gas\, etc)\, can be brought to the HHW collection event. They will often have POISON\, DANGER\, WARNING\, CAUTION or PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS printed on the label. \n  \nIn the Yard: Pesticides\, Fungicides\, Weed Killers\, Pool Chemicals\, Small Propane Tanks \nIn the Garage: Antifreeze\, Oil & Filters\, Gasoline\, Wash & Polishes\, Auto Batteries\, Engine Cleaners\, Brake Fluid \nIn the Workshop: Paint (all kinds)\, Paint Thinner\, Wood Preservatives\, Glues & Adhesives\, Solvents\, Photo Chemicals \nIn the House: Ammonia Based Cleaners\, Bleach Based Cleaners\, Aerosol Sprays\, Polishes\, Fluorescent Lamps\, Nail Polish & Remover\, Medications & Syringes \n  \nNOT ACCEPTED: Explosives\, Ammunition\, Radioactive Waste\, and Biological Waste (syringes & lancets must be in an approved Sharps container available free to San Benito County residents). DESCRIPTION:  \nThe ONE-LIFE: Suicide Intervention Skills Training is a training module developed by Suicide Prevention Service of the Central Coast (SPS). SUMMARY:34 Annual Rotary Mission 10 Race
DESCRIPTION:This event is in its 34th year. It is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hollister and all proceeds go to benefit local scholarships and charities. San Juan Bautista is a small California Mission town just off Hwy 101 appoximately 50 miles south of San Jose. The four races: 1/2 marathon\, 10 miles\, 5k and 1 Mile kids fun run\, all start and finish in front of the historic and beautiful San Juan Mission. The area is rural and the course takes runners through farm land and up the Anzar hills. Medals are awarded three deep in standard age categories. The 1/2 marathon and 10 mile races are particularly good training for upcoming spring marathons. Theme teams encouraged.

Students will be invited to participate in two separate later events: an introduction day in the spring\, and Link Crew/freshman orientation in the summer.)\nAgenda: overview of school programs (Advisory program\, service learning\, athletics and clubs\, etc.)\, academic and behavioral expectations\, Anzar college-prep curriculum\, and sample 9th grade schedules. A campus tour will be held at 6 PM sharp (before it’s completely dark out). The orientation will be run by several staff members and Anzar students\, giving you an opportunity to meet several of your student’s future teachers.
