Girls Inc. of the Central Coast is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated\, a national organization that has been providing programs for girls since 1864 in the United States and Canada. As an affiliate of the national organization\, Girls Incorporated of the Central Coast is part of a national network of girl-serving organizations that deliver innovative\, research-based programs designed specially to address the strengths and needs of girls ages 8 – 18 and to prepare them for economic independence and confident adulthood. In 2014we started the programs in San Benito County. We are currently working in with 171 girls from San Benito High School\, Rancho San Justo Middle School\, Ladd Lane Elementary School and Calaveras Elementary School.

DESCRIPTION:The Carl Luck Library in the City of San Juan Bautista has many offerings over the next few months.  Currently\, there is a book sale of $3 per bag of books\, daily until November 18th.  An upcoming Author's Expo is being held on Saturday\, October 21st from 12-1 p.m.  Among our local authors\, Jim Ostdick and Julie Morris will be present.  On Saturday\, October 28th from Noon to 2 pm SJBLA will be holding a Dia de los Muertos Stories and Crafts time for students and their families.  This will be a time to prepare for the upcoming festivities by creating a Calavera Mask\, Nicho for your altar\, floral headpiece\, and hear stories about what these traditions mean.  On Thursday\, Nov. 9th at 5:30 pm\, we will be holding our "What's Up?" Autumn Mixer\, where we can mix and meet with man library users and our community.

This book chronicles Ostdick’s 2016 coast to coast walk across America in support of the R.E.A.C.H. San Benito Parks Foundation. \nJulie F. Morris\, author of “Exit Strategy.” Her novel is based in the fictional town of Las Flores and is about a nationwide E-Coli outbreak. Finigan Morris set the story in 2008 to coincide with the housing and financial crisis and bring to light the financial struggles of agricultural workers. \nJoyce Oroz\, author of “Pushing Up Daisy.” Oroz worked as a commercial artist for many years until she rediscovered her love of writing. Joyce lives in California\, where she conjures up incredible mysteries for her protagonist\, Josephine\, to solve. \nLaynee Reyna\, artist and author of “Wolf Dreamer of the Longest Night Moon” illustrates the exquisite beauty of nature and expands awareness and respect for the nobility of wolves. Elayne was a military medic during wartime and she is an honored veteran. \nJeff Sunzeri\, author of “The Nevada Club\,” History of Reno's Nevada Club Casino\, Fitzgerald's Hotel and Casino.
