SUMMARY:International Vaulting Competition coming to Hollister\, CA
DESCRIPTION:If you love horses\, dance\, gymnastics and fun\, come check out the The Pacific Cup Concours de Voltige International (CVI)\, a major international equestrian vaulting competition being held on May 5-7 at Gilroy Gaits in Hollister\, CA. The event is expected to attract top vaulters from across the US\, Canada\, South America\, Australia\, South Africa and Europe. Many of these athletes will be trying for scores enabling them to represent their respective countries at the Alltech Fédération Equestre International (FEI) World Equestrian Games in 2018. \nBrought to the United States more than 35 years ago from Europe\, vaulting is one of the nation's most exciting and creative sports. \nEquestrian vaulting\, or simply Vaulting\, is most often described as gymnastics and dance on horseback. The origin of vaulting stretches back at least two thousand years. \nThe athletes will compete as individuals\, in pairs\, or in six-person squads\, wherein up to 3 vaulters may be on the horse at the same time. Equestrian vaulting combines elements of gymnastics and dance performed to music on a moving horse. Vaulting involves teamwork between the vaulter\, horse\, and longeur\, who controls the horse in a circle using a longe line. Competitions include compulsory and freestyle routines.

DESCRIPTION:Chris will be leading our Wednesday evening Mountain bike rides starting TODAY. Off The Chain Bikes added a once a week group mountain bike ride last year after Mudstone Ranch In Hollister Hills opened up. We are going to carry on the tradition each Wednesday evening this year. There will be a hand full of people riding out to the trailhead\, as well as a group meeting at Mudstone. Meet at OTC 6pm ready to roll out or at the parking lot at 6:30. 6-10 mi on the dirt depending on time. Questions please contact myself or Brian Lucas at Off The Chain Bikes. OFP provides service dogs and training for disabled US veterans and children and adults with special needs. Bring the whole family and come taste chilis cooked onsite by local police and fire fighters as well as be entertained by long time area favorite JJ Hawg! Face painting\, vintage law enforcement vehicle displays and BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for sale.

SUMMARY:Yoga at the Historical Park
DESCRIPTION:Yoga classes at the San Benito County Historical Park\, on the second Tuesday evening of the month\, has been very successful!  Those coming without experience in Yoga have been pleasantly surprised to find themselves easily fitting into the lesson taught by Robin Pollard during the hour long session.  Robin focuses on limbering and movement exercises coordinated with the 'breath'.  Often during the day\, when concentrating on what we're doing\, we even forget to breathe fully\, and that increases our tension and anxiety.  Yoga\, as Robin teaches\, brings a mindfulness to your breathing that becomes habit.  If one learned this alone\, the classes would be so worth the effort getting there. \nThe Yoga classes that Robin is teaching are sponsored by R.E.A.C.H. San Benito Parks Foundation and the San Benito County Historical Society at the 'Dance Hall' in San Benito County Historical Park.  At first the inspiration was to celebrate the full moon in April\, but the inspiration blossomed into an all-Summer affair.  Getting out to the Historical Park is essential for every county resident to get on their calendar\, and then to add the joy of learning a bit of something new\, like Yoga\, is a total bonus.  It is seldom you will find the chance to get acquainted with this exercise and meditative practice in such an inviting atmosphere\, for a donation only!  What a winner!  On a warm summer evening\, second Tuesday of the month through the Summer\, COME ON OUT!!!  Not ever to be regretted.

SUMMARY:Circuit Training
DESCRIPTION:Gavilan College is offering Circuit Training at Hollister's Portuguese Hall (695 7th Street) this summer. Taught by Ricardo Espinosa\, the class will combine aerobic exercise with resistance training to build fitness. Three levels of the class are offered\, which should be taken sequentially. This is a half-unit credit class\, applicable to a Gavilan College Associate degree. The course may be taken for a letter grade\, or for the pass/no-pass option. \nLevel 1 – This course is a combination of aerobic exercise and resistance training designed to simultaneously improve mobility \, strength and stamina. Students will rotate from station to station\, alternating between cardio and muscle toning exercise. Emphasis will be on students exercising at a moderate (40% – 50% THR) exertion level.  \nLevel 2 – This course continues from Level 1. Emphasis will be on student's exercising at an intermediate (50% – 60% THR) exertion level.  \nLevel 3 – This course continues from Level 2.. Emphasis will be on student's exercising at a high (60% – 80% THR) intensity level.  \nTo enroll\, go to www.gavilan.edu\, and click on the "Apply and Enroll" button.
