SUMMARY:Red Cross Blood Donation Event
DESCRIPTION:The Central Coast community is invited to become a hometown hero and answer the call of patients in need by donating blood on Wednesday\, August 28\, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Red Cross Central Coast Chapter’s office in Santa Cruz. The address for the special blood drive that day is 2960 Soquel Avenue\, Santa Cruz. \nDonating blood is one of the simplest things a person can do to help save a patient’s life. For the hour it takes to give blood\, there could be a whole community of people thankful for another birthday given to their loved one. \nThis blood drive  comes as the  Red Cross faces an emergency  blood shortage. Blood donors are needed now to help avoid delays in lifesaving medical care for patients this summer. Right now\, blood  products are being distributed to hospitals  faster than  donations are coming in. More donations are  immediately  needed to help replenish the blood supply.

SUMMARY:Hunting for Geocaches at Hollister Hills SVRA
DESCRIPTION:Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) is gearing up to host its Eighth Annual Geocache Bash on September 28\, 2019. This family friendly event combines 4×4 off road recreation and Geocaching\, the global online scavenger hunt in a day of exciting exploration. Participants will receive free day admission to the park as they search for newly released geocaches via 4×4 vehicles. With the addition of Mudstone Ranch (non-motorized multiuse trails)\, geocachers who do not have a 4×4 vehicle available can still participate by searching for caches via hiking or bicycle. \nThe event cache coordinates will be downloaded via geocaching.com onto participant GPS’s at registration. Each geocache will hold a collective interpretive card specifically designed to promote the parks natural and cultural resources. \nTo participate in the Geocache Bash\, please follow designated signs to Area 5 Group Camp for event registration beginning at 8am. A global positioning system device (GPS) is required to participate. At registration\, one official geocache logbook for field use will be issued per registered participant GPS for the event. Due to the topography and tree coverage of the park smart phone based GPS can be very spotty. \nThe geocache hunt will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thanks to the parks cooperating association\, Hollister Hills Off-Road Association (HORRA) will provide a complementary lunch at 12pm. \nFor additional information\, please email the park at Hollister.Hills@parks.ca.gov or call (831) 638-3207. We hope to see you here. \n
