SUMMARY:2040 MTP/SCS EIR Scoping Meeting
DESCRIPTION:As the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the tri‐county region of Monterey\, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties\, AMBAG is charged with developing a MTP/SCS. The 2040 MTP/SCS is the metropolitan long‐range transportation plan for the three counties. SBtCOG\, SCCRTC\, TAMC are the state‐designated Regional Transportation Planning Agencies (RTPAs) for San Benito\, Santa Cruz\, and Monterey counties\, respectively. Each RTPA prepares a county‐level long‐range Regional Transportation Plan. The EIR will serve as the Program EIR for the AMBAG 2040 MTP/SCS and for the RTPs prepared by the RTPAs for San Benito\, Santa Cruz\, and Monterey counties. \nThe 2040 MTP/SCS is used to guide the development of the Regional and Federal Transportation Improvement Programs\, as well as other transportation programming documents and plans. The MTP/SCS outlines the region's goals and policies for meeting current and future mobility needs\, providing a foundation for transportation decisions by local\, regional\, and State officials that are ultimately aimed at achieving a coordinated and balanced transportation system. \nThe SCS component of the MTP is required by California Senate Bill 375\, the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act of 2008 (SB 375). SB 375 mandates regional greenhouse gas reduction targets for passenger vehicles and\, pursuant to that law\, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has established and will update 2020 and 2035 GHG reduction targets for each region covered by one of the state’s MPOs. AMBAG is required to prepare an SCS that demonstrates how updated GHG reduction targets could be met through integrated land use\, housing\, and transportation planning. If the SCS is unable to meet the GHG reduction targets\, then an Alternative Planning Scenario must be prepared. \nThe 2040 MTP/SCS as the metropolitan long‐range transportation plan for the three counties will compile transportation projects and programs included in the County RTPs. Pursuant to §15082 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)\, AMBAG is soliciting input on the scope and content of the EIR. AMBAG will host three public scoping meetings to solicit input on the scope and content of the EIR. The date\, time and location of the meetings are as follows: \n\nIn San Benito County on January 11\, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the County of San Benito Board of Supervisors Chambers\, 481 Fourth Street\, Hollister\, CA\nIn Santa Cruz County on January 27\, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Aptos Library\, 7695 Soquel Drive\, Aptos\, CA\nIn Monterey County on January 28\, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Cesar Chavez Library\, 615 Williams Road\, Salinas\, CA

SUMMARY:Mission 10 Run coming January 30
DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Hollister was one of the first Rotary Clubs established in California. The club has prided itself on providing vast support to the community in the form of monetary contributions for student scholarships\, contributions to athletic programs\, and providing a large base of volunteers that help support many programs around the community and world wide. \nThe event is comprised of a 5K Race\, a 10 Mile Race and a 1 Mile Fun Run. This year we are also very excited to be adding a half-marathon. The 5K\, 10 mile\, and half marathon races will be professionally timed by South Valley Endurance. The 5K has been popular with both competitive and casual runners. \nWalkers are also welcomed for the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. The 10 mile race has been TAC Certified\, and will take participants on a route through the scenic farmland and hills outside of San Juan Bautista. The 1/2 Marathon and 10 mile distance races provide a great training base for spring marathons. We are trying to grow this event while still maintaining the qualities appreciated by the runners who have made the Mission 10 a destination for years. Please tell your friends! \nFor more information: contact Bill Tiffany (831) 637-0071FAX (831) 637-0092; email: wgtt@sbcglobal.net or markcvivian@aol.com \nRegister online at http://mission10.racemine.com/ \nLike and follow us on Facebook to stay updated on race day news.  \nVisit Rotary Club of Hollister at www.hollisterrotary.org for mail-in registration\, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.

SUMMARY:Brady Goss and Band in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Brady Goss (piano & vocals) was described from an early age as a piano phenomena. Today he is recognized as an electrifying entertainer. Those who have witnessed his live shows are awed by his formidable keyboard speed then grabbed by soulful vocals that are loaded with passion and bring out the feel good emotions that keep fans of all ages wanting more. Influences such as Jerry Lee Lewis\, Hank Williams\, Eric Clapton\, The Eagles\, Stevie Ray Vaughan\, and John Mayer might characterize him as Blues\, 50*s Rock *N Roll\, Classic Country\, or Classic Rock\, but Brady*s own unique improvisational style makes him truly one of a kind with a style all his own. \nHis comfort and crowd pleasing ability on stage is truly remarkable\, yet his people friendly\, small town\, regular kid\, personality will convince fans of diverse musical desires and backgrounds to come along with him on the musical journey that will have everyone and especially Brady just having a blast.

SUMMARY:Project Possible DIY Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Project Possible: A New Philosophy for Business \nby Rachelle Escamilla \nThis story was printed in the February 2016 issue of the Mission Village Voice and is reprinted with permission.  \nHave you ever wanted to string a sheet between two trees\, project a movie and have the whole community show up with their kids and dogs and coolers and snacks and enjoy something together? This kind of spontaneity\, an urgent desire to create derived from possibility and not profit is the exact philosophy at Project Possible.  \n\nCasey Jahsman\, founder of Project Possible\, wants the community to come together to realize our own strengths and work together to make our community a better place.  \nWhen I first met Casey\, I wasn’t sure what to make of his business philosophy\, but the structure and transparency that exists in Project Possible is the exact kind of transparency that consumers of my generation are thirsty for: we do not want to purchase things that are made with ethics that we cannot support\, we do not want to purchase things created by businesses who disregard their laborers\, and we do not want to support organizations whose practices in the community do not reflect the diversity (whether it be demographic or aesthetic) of that community. So where do we want to spend our money? Businesses whose ethics are transparent\, whose items are reused\, whose payment structure is direct\, and whose quality and price is within our budgets. That’s a lot to ask of a business owner.  \nSo Casey works with reclaimed wood. He can pop out a table for you (provided he has the wood) in 6-24 hours. He’ll sell it to you finished or unfinished (what do you need?) and adjust the price to fit your budget. “If a homey needs to be hooked up with a table” Casey says with a smile and a shrug\, “I’ll hook him up with a table.”  \nYou might be asking yourself\, what kind of business model is that? It’s the same hybrid business model as TOMS shoes: one for one. Someone buys a complete\, high-end table for the price that it’s worth\, and someone else (who is in need) can buy a different piece that’s priced according to their budget. It’s not about the buying of the table or the profit which can be derived from the sale\, but the relationship between craftsman and community member. One person has – one person has not. Casey wants us to work together to make sure that more people have.  \nThe next part of his business is an online store where local artists and writers can display their work as part of a collaborative. For now\, he’s accepting donations from artists and he will place their items on his webstore and the sales of those pieces will go towards the Project Possible Homeless Fund towards providing reclaimed wood tables and free workshops for the community.  \nCasey wants the local government\, businesses or organizations to contact him if they need anything built for their places. He also wants you to contact him if you have wood laying around. He also wants you to know that his workshop is always open\, just give him a ring and show up. That’s what I do.  \nUPCOMING WORKSHOPS: DIY END TABLE DEMO\nSAT FEB 6 & 13th 1-2 PM\n111 Ausaymas Ct. Hollister Ca 95023\nwww.theprojectpossiblestore.com \n(831)245-7798 \n  \nDIY End Table Demonstration Casey will show you how to make an End Table. There will also be pre-cut coasters available for designing as well as other wood-working opportunities. Come and be a part of Project Possible!
