DESCRIPTION:The Hollister Downtown Association\, in partnership with the City of Hollister and Bourdet’s Christmas Trees\, invite you to our 32nd Annual Lights On Celebration on Saturday\, November 26 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Hollister. This year’s theme is Celebrating 150 Hollister Christmases \nIn keeping with the year-long celebration for the City of Hollister’s 150th anniversary. The event kicks off with our Dec-A-Tree Project. This project began in 1994 to benefit families in need and help brighten their Holiday Season. The Hollister Downtown Association coordinates the decoration efforts by individuals\, businesses\, and youth service clubs. The trees are donated each year by Bourdet’s\nChoose & Cut Christmas Tree Farm. \nOur Holiday Car Display starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. and features this year’s Street Festival Winner Car Club with the Most Participation\, Impala Car Club. They will be displaying their vehicles on the corners of Seventh and San Benito Streets. \nAt 1 p.m.\, the Lights on Celebration will see the return of the Holiday Boutique at the Veterans’ Memorial Building. This year’s Holiday Boutique will feature over 30 Artisan vendors so you can start your holiday shopping with unique one-of-a-kind items. There will also be a Holiday Food Court starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. and will feature 8 local favorites to choose from\, plus your favorite Downtown restaurants will be open during the festivities. \nThere will be live entertainment starting at 3 p.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial Building\, with performances also at Fifth Street. This year’s performers include Ha’a Hula\, Animation Dance Community\, Fusion\, Yamamoto Hula Ohana\, and Enterprise Academy of Martial Arts. \nThe spectacular Lights On Celebration Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. starting on the corners of San Benito\nSt and Haydon St and will go through our downtown area and culminate on 5th St. This year’s parade will feature over 70 local businesses\, departments\, youth organizations\, schools and non-profit groups\nbringing their Christmas Cheer. This is also the first appearance of Santa and Mrs. Claus. \nThe funs continues as the City of Hollister’s Park and Recreation Department will be having their\nDowntown Hollister Christmas Tree Lighting at 7:15 p.m. in front of the Veterans’ Memorial Building. This year’s tree is over 14ft tall and will feature beautiful decorations and lights. The tree is being provided by Bourdet’s Choose & Cut Christmas Tree Farm. \nRight after the Tree Lighting\, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday\nBoutique and will go until 8:30 p.m. when the Holiday Boutique will end. Photos will be taken by Zoom\nPhotoGraphix and Video Express and will cost $7 for a 5×7 photo. SUMMARY:SBSC The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
DESCRIPTION:When Bob Bradford said that this year’s Christmas pageant wasn’t going to be “anything special”\, boy was he wrong. He and the town had no idea how different this year’s production would be. The classic Nativity story is turned on its ear in “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” performed this season by the San Benito Stage Company. The company is excited to present its first ever holiday production to our community.  A family friendly show\, it features actors of all ages as they bring this beloved children’s book to life.  \n“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever\,” by Barbara Robinson\, is based on her 1971 book of the same name.  It is the story of how the “horrible Herdmans”\, a group of unruly siblings\, commandeer the local church’s annual Christmas pageant taking all the leading roles for themselves. Grace Bradford\, the director by default\, attempts to manage the mayhem while enduring much unwelcome commentary from the locals. A comedy at its core\, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is also both charming and heartwarming. Combined with classic carols\, this production is the feel-good show of the season and a  “must see” for the holidays.
