SUMMARY:Community Emergency Response Team Basic Training
DESCRIPTION:San Benito County Community Emergency Response Team Training \nThe San Benito County Office of Emergency Services is excited to announce an upcoming free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training opportunity being held on three (3) consecutive Saturdays in April at the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office in Hollister. \nCERT is a FEMA-certified course on basic disaster preparedness for self\, family\, neighborhood and community. The course educates residents in San Benito County about preparedness for hazards that may impact our community and provides training in basic emergency response skills\, such as: disaster preparedness\, fire safety\, home utility control\, light search and rescue\, emergency medical operations\, community response team organization\, and disaster psychology. \nUsing skills learned in the classroom and during exercises\, participants will be better prepared to safely and appropriately provide assistance to their family\, neighborhood\, community\, and workplace following a disaster when professional responders may not be immediately available to help. Once the basic training course has been completed\, CERT members are eligible to be deployed in the community to assist with large scale emergency and disaster incidents (e.g.\, a large earthquake with widespread damage). \nThis CERT training course will be held at the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office\, located at 2301 Technology Parkway\, Hollister\, CA 95023. The schedule for the course is as follows: \n\nSaturday\, April 7\, 2018 – 8:30 am to 4:45 pm\nSaturday\, April 14\, 2018 – 8:30 am to 4:45 pm\nSaturday\, April 21\, 2018 – 8:30 am to 4:45 pm*\n\n        *Disaster simulation exercise is held on the last Saturday of the course. This day is likely to get out early! \nThere is no cost for CERT training and all materials will be provided.  To RSVP for the course\, or to address any questions you may have\, please email Bryan LaSota\, Emergency Services Specialist\, at Blasota@cosb.us or call the San Benito County Office of Emergency Services at 831-636-4168.

SUMMARY:The Grunch at San Benito Stage Company
DESCRIPTION:The children’s musical (opening this Friday April 13th\, and running through Saturday April 28th) tells of Rudy Grunch (played by Alejandro Manzo)\, a grumpy 6th grader who always feels like an outsider. SUMMARY:Exhibit of watercolors of the Missions to be extended
DESCRIPTION:Exhibit of watercolors of the Missions to be extended \nSan Juan Bautista – The run of “Loving Watercolor: Paintings of the California Missions by Nancy Burtch Hauk (1944-2016)” has been extended through the end of May at the Mission San Juan Bautista Museum. \nOriginally scheduled to conclude at the end of March\, the popular exhibit will now run until May 31. \nThe exhibit features some 20 watercolors and gouaches of Mission San Juan Bautista\, Mission San Carlos Borremeo del Rio Carmelo\, Mission Neustra Senora de la Soledad\, and Mission San Antonio de Pauda. \nThe artist Nancy Hauk\, who made her home in Pacific Grove\, often incorporated the interior mission wall art – sometimes referred to as dados and usually created by Native American artists – into exterior scenes of the mission structures\, the work highlighting the early painting of often forgotten artists. \nCentral to the exhibition is a painting of Mission San Juan Bautista using decorative interior art in a scene depicting night and day. Giclees and cards reproducing the scene are \navailable in the museum gift shop. \nMission San Juan Bautista is located at 406 Second Street in San Juan Bautista. \nThe exhibit is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. \nFor more exhibit information\, call (831) 238-5254.
