Community Solutions is hosting a Volunteer Advocate Training for Sexual Assault, Intimate Partner Abuse, and Human Trafficking Advocates beginning July 8, 2016. The 9-day training runs every Friday and Saturday from July 8, 2016 to August 5, 2016 and provides community members with the knowledge and skills needed to become a Certified Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking, and Intimate Partner Abuse Advocate.
Certified Advocates will be able to provide prevention, education and outreach presentations; assist with legal advocacy and court accompaniment; provide peer support to survivors at Community Solutions’ confidential shelter; provide crisis-line support and provide in-person responses for survivors in crisis.
“This training provides a framework for and understanding of the complexities of the issues of sexual assault, intimate partner abuse and human trafficking, and helps create the awareness needed to reduce the occurrence of these crimes in our community,” said Erica Elliott, Sexual Assault and Prevention Services Manager at Community Solutions. “We are committed to training knowledgeable and compassionate volunteers who can provide support and outreach to our local community.”
Trainings will take place July 8, 2016 to August 5, 2016, every Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Community Solutions’ Gilroy location. The application deadline is June 24, 2016. Applicants must be 18 years of age. Those interested in applying should download an application from our website at: www.communitysolutions.org.
