The federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) offers a comprehensive range of workforce development activities through statewide and local organizations. Available workforce development activities provided in local communities can benefit job seekers, laid off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and employers. Youth Council develops the portions of the local plan relating to eligible youth activities; recommend eligible providers of youth activities to be awarded grants or contracts on a competitive basis by the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) to carry out the youth activities, conduct oversight with respect to eligible providers of youth activities; coordinate authorized youth activities in San Benito County; and perform other duties as determined to be appropriate by the WIB Chair.
The YEP Council meets every other month on the third Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. at San Benito High School. Room 327 (Depening on Room Availability. Otherwise, we meet at Mars Hill). All meetings are open to the public. Meetings are held every other month (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sept, Nov) on the 3rd Tuesday.
