Farmers’ Market returns to downtown Hollister

Annual event will run through late September on San Benito Street

The Downtown Certified Farmers’ Market will kick off its five-month season on Wednesday, May 6 on San Benito Street in downtown Hollister. The city's main thoroughfare will be closed every Wednesday through Sept.30 from noon until 8:30 p.m. The market's vendors will open for business from 3-7:30 p.m. each week.

All of the side streets (Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh) will be open for parking, as well as the parking lots off those streets and the city parking garage at Fourth and San Benito. The Hollister Downtown Association said that more than 4,000 people attended last year's market on a weekly basis.

In addition to the fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, crafts, baked foods and other items for sale, the Farmers' Market is teaming with the San Benito County Arts Council to feature Art Nights on the first Wednesday of each month during the market's run. It will also offer wine tasting on those first Wednesdays and free entertainment and cooking demonstrations are planned throughout the spring and summer.

For more information about being a vendor at the market, call Manager Tammy Jackson at (408) 804-1234.
