Sun Street Centers counselor receives award

Sun Street Center’s own Gordon Horne received the Above and Beyond Award from the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals in San Diego, CA this past weekend.

Horne, a Licensed Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor (LAADC) and one of the Clinical Supervisors for Sun Street Center’s Men’s Residential Program in Salinas was recognized for exceptional leadership in substance use disorder treatment, representing programs that produce innovative solutions and demonstrate meaningful progress toward the advancement of substance abuse treatment. 

“Gordon, who has been with Sun Street Center’s for more than 12 years, is an invaluable asset to our organization," said Anna Foglia, chief executive officer for Sun Street Centers. "His knowledge and education in the addiction field is impressive and the way he introduces novel and fresh ideas to the advancement in substance abuse is outstanding.  We are very proud to have Gordon on our team and look forward too many years and many bright ideas from him.”

Sun Street Centers was founded in Salinas, California in 1968. Their mission is to prevent alcohol and drug addiction by providing prevention, education, counseling, and recovery services to individuals and families, regardless of income level.

Sun Street Center’s is expanding and adding many exciting services to our scope. In 2018 they have already opened three brand new programs stretching from San Benito County to Southern Monterey County. In June the first ever Women’s Perinatal Residential Facility in Hollister, CA opened can house a dozen women in the 90-day social-model recovery program. In September a new facility in King City debuted. The facility is expected to operate as a Men’s and Women’s Residential Facility, Sober Living Environment, Community Center for youth prevention and is currently open for Outpatient Counseling services. The Seaside Facility also recently began offering Youth Outpatient Counseling Services.
