The delivery date for the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Women’s Center is quickly approaching. The community is invited to an open house Saturday, October 12 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at 911 Sunset Drive, Hollister. The event will feature an opportunity to meet obstetrical physicians and nursing staff as well as for facility tours, giveaways, free health screenings and a face painter and balloon artist for children.

The three-story Women’s Center will house childbirth services and women’s medical diagnostic services.
The 14,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility features a beautiful two-story atrium lobby, families will be admitted to one of 13 private, modern Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum rooms (LDRPs). These rooms are designed with hotel-like amenities for families to enjoy the birth of a new child and remain in the same home-like environment for the duration of their stay. Each room has a private bathroom and furnishings designed for the family to remain with mom and baby.

The Center will be equipped with a full service operating theater should a cesarean section be necessary. A state-of-the-art operating room will meet the highest standard of care.

Two nurses stations will allow staff to be readily available and to monitor all activity on the unit. A newborn nursery is available if needed. This unit is designed to be the facility of choice for mother-baby care in the region.
The second floor will house the McCullough Resource Library, physician resting rooms and a high tech Women’s Diagnostic Center with mammography, 3D & 4D ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy, echocardiography and bone density testing services.

Construction of the Women’s Center is majority funded by Measure L, a property bond passed by San Benito County voters in 2005. Fundraising continues to help finance equipment and other amenities for the Center.
