Heritage Bank of Commerce celebrates one year at Hollister branch

Branch employees are active members of the community, volunteering a cumulative 165 hours over the past year

The Hollister branch of the Heritage Bank of Commerce celebrated its first anniversary in the community on June 21. The branch is located at 351 Tres Pinos Road, Suite 102A.

“We are so happy to be part of the community,” said Senior Vice President and Hollister Market Manager Will Sutton, “Marlene [Marlene Mead, vice president and commercial lending officer] and our staff have been bankers in the community for quite a while. We truly are happy to be part of Heritage Bank because it allows us to give back to the community.”

Sutton joined Heritage Bank of Commerce in 2014 to start the Hollister branch and serves as chairman of Leadership San Benito, is a member of the Grants Committee with Community Foundation for San Benito as well as financial advisor for the Community Foundation.

Mead, who joined Heritage Bank of Commerce in 2014 as well, and serves as a resource for the branch’s business clients. She is member of the United Way of San Benito County Board of Directors and recently joined the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation Board.

“It’s been a busy year since we opened our Hollister office, led by Will Sutton,” the bank’s marketing team said in a written statement. “Besides building relationships with local businesses, Will and his team Marlene Mead, Scott Winant, Camille Reimal, Natasha Rodriguez, and Adrienne Mongi-Clark, have been extremely active in the community since our arrival last June.”

The Hollister branch itself is an active member in the Hollister Downtown Association and the San Benito Chamber of Commerce. The branch has donated $6,000 this year to schools, nonprofit organizations and local charities. Heritage Bank is consistently recognized by the Silicon Valley Business Journal as a top philanthropist in Silicon Valley.

Over the past year the branch has sponsored community programs and events such as Lunch with Leaders, the YMCA’s Superhero of the Day and the upcoming Nibble and Network Mixer.

Other events sponsored by the branch this year include: The YMCA golf Event, Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation Dinner, San Benito Horse Show and Rodeo, Oriana Choral Holiday singing program at Mission San Juan Bautista, the San Benito Chamber of Commerce annual award dinner, Hollister Youth Alliance fundraising event, Hollister Art Council fundraising event in San Juan Bautista, Oriana Choral Spring Holiday singing program, Hollister Downtown Association’s Wine and Beer Stroll, and Mauri Fun Day at Chamberlin’s Children Center.

The Hollister branch was also one of the key event sponsors of the first ever Hollister Women’s Summit with the Community Foundation for San Benito.

The Heritage Bank team in Hollister has also volunteered a cumulative 165 hours over the past year, giving their time to a number of local organizations and events. In fact, Sutton, an active member of the Hollister Rotary Club, was named Rotarian Philanthropist of the Year.
