Hollister Optometrist Robert Theaker was named the Optometrist of the Year by the California Optometric Association. He has served the California Optometric Association for over 25 years and has worked on most committees of the organization.

 

Dr. Theaker has been in practice at Hollister Vision Center since 1991. He specializes in general and family optometry, and contact lenses. He graduated with a BA in Biology from University of California Berkeley and later graduated from the University Of California Berkeley School Of Optometry. He has also received the Young O.D. of the Year award.

 

Dr. Theaker currently serves on the American Optometric Association Legislative Committee and has been an active member of the Rotary Club for over 24 years. Dr. Theaker also serves on the Vision West Advisory Board and has been a member of the Flying Doctors. He has volunteered at many vision screenings and participated in numerous legislative fundraisers and meetings both in Sacramento and Hollister.

 

Born in Modesto, California, Theaker became an optometrist after working with his hometown eye doctor and realizing that he wanted to help people with vision problems. Over the years he has aided many patients, including the discovery of uncontrolled hypertension in a young man which led to successful treatment that saved his life.

 

Dr. Theaker’s activities outside of work include hiking, music, and politics. He is married to Dr. Elizabeth B. Anderson and together they have a son and daughter in college.
