The Hollister Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9242 Auxiliary is hosting a family craft event on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Hollister from 1pm to 3.
Auxiliary secretary and its fundraising chairperson, Lynette Peavey, stated in a telephone interview with BenitoLink that event is a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting veteran's causes and local charities.
The $30.00 donation fee will provide each family with 16-by-20 inch piece of wood that it can collectively create a patriotic sign or fall themed motif using the “stain press” technique—a process that involves applying non-toxic, water based gel stain and paint to a surface then manipulating the colors with water before pressing plastic wrap on the painted surface, explained Peavey.
The Sunday craft session will be held in the vets building’s annex, accessible on its Seventh St. side entrance.
In addition to art supplies and materials, the auxiliary will provide fruit, cookies, and refreshments.
Besides enjoying the company of their families, Peavey hopes that attendees to this weekend's event “learn about the auxiliary and leave with a project that they are proud to display.”
Reservations are required and must be made by contacting Lynette Peavey at, 831-801-2730 or via email at, firstname.lastname@example.org
