A project to resurface and improve guardrail on State Route 156 continues with a 24/7 closure of the No. 1 (left) lane in each direction from US Highway 101 to the Alameda and is expected to last for at least one more week, Caltrans officials announced on Aug. 25.

This lane closure was contingent upon completion of work on the No. 2 lane which has been done.

Motorists will also encounter lane closures on State Route 156 in both directions weekdays during the overnight hours from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Motorists will encounter delays not to exceed 15 minutes. The CHP will be present to assist with traffic control.

The contractor for this $5 million project is Graniterock Company of Watsonville. This part of the project is expected to be complete by end of August with the entire project scheduled to be complete in November.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over slow down when driving through highway work zones.
