Isha Foundation Volunteer Day

Just before the holidays, we had a volunteer's picnic on land to kickstart the much awaited phase-2 of planting.

Around 65 volunteers gathered with their families and friends for a picnic in warm winter sun, and start the new phase of planting. They planted colorful flowering native trees like American Redbud, White Flowering Dogwood, Goldenraintree, Crabmyrtles- just to name a few, on the hills of San Juan Bautista.

These trees were donated by a large number of volunteers to be planted on the northern hills of the property.  More than 75 trees were planted in just a couple of hours time! Air was filled with laughter and fun, as volunteers along with kids took a break to play a game of Frisbee and basketball. Scrumptious potluck lunch, prepared by volunteers, with Sounds of Isha music gently echoing on the pastures was delightful and a pleasant respite from the hard work that everyone had put in.

Since the picnic, volunteers have been tirelessly returning to land every weekend to plant more trees on the northern face. Over 5000 tulip bulbs have been planted on the hills, which will make our land vibrant with a burst of color and offer breathtaking views. Tree planting will continue in full swing till spring.
