Passed Away On: March 10, 2022
It is with great sorrow to announce our beloved mother, Barbara King has passed away after a short battle with cancer. Barbara was born in Van Nuys, California, the oldest of three children. Her family traveled extensively during her childhood and finally settled in Pleasant Hill, California.
She attended Diablo Valley College, during these years Barbara had the opportunity to travel to Europe and Egypt with her cousin. Upon returning from her travels, she married Larry King, her husband of 57 years. They bought their first home in San Jose. In 1974 Barbara and Larry moved to Hollister California with their five children after purchasing five acres and built their forever home. Barbara worked at San Benito High School for many years in various clerical positions. Her hobbies were reading and sewing. Through sewing Barbara showed her love for her children and grandchildren. She made many school and play clothes. She also made clothes for many of her family’s important occasions and activities including prom dresses, Halloween costumes, cheerleading day outfits, competition ice skating costumes and interview suits. She took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara enjoyed volunteering at the Hazel Hawkins Hospital, where her constant smile brought joy to both staff and patients alike. She was an integral part in coordinating Hazel Hawkins Auxiliary’s annual luncheon.
Barbara is survived by her five children, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandkids. She will be forever inurned with Larry in a private ceremony at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Merrill Gardens and Bonita Springs Hospice for their tireless effort and support. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Hazel Hawkins Auxiliary.
