Felipe Ruiz Sanchez Sr. passed away at his home in Hollister, California on January 24, 2017 at the age of 83 years surrounded by his wife Cecilia, their children and grandchildren.

Felipe was born March 19, 1933 in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas, Mexico to Bernarda and Ines Sanchez. He arrived to Hollister, California in 1956 and in 1957 was married to his wife of 59 years, Cecilia.

He was a hard working family man who had a strong faith in God. He worked in the local wineries for 29 years as a racker/blender. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, music, bar-b-q’s and spending his time with family and friends.

He also enjoyed discussing politics and current events as he was huge fan of CNN and watching the news. One of his favorite past times was working in his garden. He enjoyed watching his children compete in sporting activities.

He is survived by his wife Cecilia; children: Hector and his wife Gloria, Felipe Jr., Albert and his wife Divina, Marian and her husband Winston, and Cecilia and her husband Santiago; grandchildren: Michael and his wife Katie, Michele, Ashlyn and her husband Breyon, Megan, and Prince; great grandchildren: Mckenley and Breyleigh; sisters: Martha, Cecelia, Aurora, Onoria; brother Rodrigo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

His was preceded in death by his parents, Bernarda and Ines Sanchez; brothers Enrique, Luis, Rogelio, Jose, and Jesus; and his 3 year old sister.

Special thanks to Stephanie, our VNA-Hospice nurse for her care during our father’s illness.

Visitation will be held at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1st at St. Benedict Church, 1200 Fairview Road, Hollister.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery
