Passed Away On: September 4, 2021
Glenn (Rich) Brem November 30, 1949 – September 4, 2021
Rich Brem peacefully flew to the arms of Jesus in the presence of his loving family after a three year struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Rich Brem was born November 30, 1949, to Glenn and Muriel Brem in Gilroy, California. The third of five children, he attended public schools in Gilroy thru High School. He earned an A.S. degree at Gavilan College and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1972. It was in San Luis Obispo that he met his wife Trisha Harper, and they married in 1974 and settled in nearby Los Osos. Rich worked as an Electrical Engineering Estimator for PG&E in San Luis Obispo and accepted a transfer to Salinas in 1977, so they moved to Hollister, to be closer to family and hunting opportunities. In his 40 years with PG&E, he enjoyed various jobs in engineering, management, and consulting in SLO, Salinas, Monterey, San Jose, Hollister, and San Francisco. He was the Regional Manager for PG&E in Hollister from 1995-2000. His love of the Community showed throughout the years with his volunteering as a marshal for the AT&T Pebble Beach for 43 years, serving as President of Chamber of SBC Commerce, a Little League Coach for 12 years, and a member of the Kiwanis club. He had a love for music of all kinds, and sang tenor in the Oriana Chorale and in the Choir and Praise Team for many years at the Presbyterian Church (now Christ Fellowship), at which he was a member for 44 years. He is survived by both his parents and his wife of 46 years, Trish, and his sons, Ryan (Jennifer) and Eric (Jessica), and grandchildren Julia, Millie, Gwen and Samuel Brem, along with his brother Ed Brem (Jane), and sisters, Vicki Ciraulo (Stan), and Peggy Fischer (Jeff). His grandparents, Richard and May Brem of Gilroy, Grace and Rowland Winter of Hollister, and sister, Christina Haley, of Ojai, preceded him in death. He also leaves behind a multitude of adoring nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews!
Rich was a true lover of God’s amazing nature and enjoyed hiking and golfing and was an avid hunter of ducks, deer, pheasant, quail and doves. He and Trish loved to travel and he had an amazing eye for photography and videos to store those memories, and he loved sharing them and the stories of numerous trips.
He will be remembered as an example of faith and his love of family and friends, and especially love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
A celebration of Rich’s life will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 2:00 pm, in the courtyard at Christ Fellowship, 2066 San Benito Street. Rich would say “it’s a party, no need to wear black!” In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Fellowship Music Ministry.
