James Laws, 100, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. He was born on April 4, 1917 in Gooding, Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his son, Robert, his daughters in law Shirley Laws of King City, and Marie-Louise Laws, wife of Robert, and his two grandchildren, Adrien and Remi Laws.
James loved flying and aviation. He was a navigator on B-26 Marauders in World War II. He moved to Hollister after the war, and married Dorothy May Fiedler in December 1945. He worked as a crop duster for Atwood Crop Dusting in Salinas, and then formed a crop dusting company, Bradford Laws and Weatherly, with Earl Bradford and John Weatherly. Later he formed Greenbelt Aviation, based in Hollister with a second group in King City, California managed by Gordon Plaskett. He also founded San Benito Air Service at Hollister Municipal Airport, with his Greenbelt partner Don Wells. James also served as the Airport Manager for several years.
The family asks for privacy during this time of mourning.
