John Price Rose, born March 21, 1929, in Anderson, IN. Passed April 7, 2020, at home with family in Hollister, CA.
Survived by Dorothy (Wright) Rose, wife of 69 years, 4 children (Paul, Craig, Carol and Glen Rose), 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many friends.
John graduated from the University (College) of the Pacific in 1951. He earned a Master of Education from Stanford after completing a tour with the Air Force. His distinguished career in public secondary education included teaching, grant writing and administration.
As a long-time active member of Presbyterian Church / Christ Fellowship, he held many roles in leadership, mission and service, putting his beliefs into action.
John was a great example of placing others first, as an avid volunteer in many areas of community life including helping found the Hollister Swim Club and the Community Pantry / Food Bank. He also spent decades bagging food at Fishes and Loaves, sorting donations at Hazel’s Thrift Store, recycling, building and tending bird houses while playing golf at Bolado Park and holding signs on Fridays with the Hollister Peace Vigil. He believed in helping those in need, protecting our world and loving kindness to all.
