Josefina Serratos

February 24, 1939 – July 15, 2023

In Loving Memory of Josefina Z. Serratos: A Life of Faith, Friendship, and Creativity.

Josefina Z. Serratos was born in Ameca, Jalisco, in the year 1939. Years later, she moved to Hollister, California. For over 50 years in Hollister, Josefina established lifelong friendships. She was a devout Catholic and held strong religious values. She was passionate about sewing and making her milk gelatin desserts.

Josefina passed away in Hollister, California, at the age of 84, with her daughter Lorena by her side, accompanied by family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clemente Serratos and Elvira Zepeda, and her siblings Alberto Serratos, Mercedes Serratos, Cirilo Serratos, and Antonia Serratos Acosta. Josefina is survived by two siblings, Maria Elvira Serratos and Hilario Serratos. Her daughter Lorena Hernández, granddaughters Kathy Ornelas Higgins (Colton), Myra Ornelas Hamon (Noah), and great-grandchildren Maliya, Calon, and Sienna Higgins also survive her.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 25, from 2 to 6 p.m., followed by the rosary at Black & Cooper-Sander Funeral Home. On July 26, there will be a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the St Benedict Catholic Church. The burial will take place after the Mass at the Calvary Cemetery.
