Passed Away On: November 6, 2021
Surrounded by love in the arms of his wife and children, Kevin passed peacefully into the arms of his heavenly Father after a courageous battle with brain cancer, on November 6, 2021. Born in San Jose, California on May 22, 1963 Kevin and his family moved to Hollister in 1966, where he continued to live for the duration of his life. He attended many of the local grade schools, and graduated from San Benito High School in 1982. He met his wife, Alice, shortly after high school and they married on September 3,1988. They were blessed with 33 wonderful years of married life and 39 years of being a couple. He was a California licensed floor covering contractor and he operated his business with his wife for 20 years; all of which led to countless friendships in Hollister and surrounding communities throughout the decades. They had two children, Ashley and Andrew who were his pride and joy. Kevin understood the most important job he would ever have was being a Dad and subsequently a Papa. He was passionate about both roles. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and cycling. Nature was his sanctuary and the place he felt closest to God. He was a godly man who believed living a life of faith was the best witness for Jesus Christ. In 2008, he decided to return to school, where he studied Orthopedic Technology – accomplishing a lifelong dream of his to work in the medical field. He worked for Kaiser Fremont Emergency Department until the time of his illness. He loved his job and the people he worked with. Helping others brought much joy and purpose to his life. His legacy of faith, family and friendship will continue in the generations to come; That is the gift he leaves us.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Colton, daughter Ashley Colbert(Daniel), son Andrew Colton(Katelyn), grandchildren Dawson, Emerie, and Ava Colbert(Papa’s medicine), brother Aaron Colton(Gina), sisters Julie Britt(Roger) and Carrie Cota, sister in laws Mary DaRosa(Ken), Elizabeth Diaz(Damien), father and mother in law Manuel A. and Maria Alice Avila, many nephews and nieces and his furry, faithful chocolate labrador Reed. He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Scardino and father Eugene Colton, brother in law Ruben Cota, and nephew Emerson Avila-DaRosa.
A Celebration of his life will be held on November 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Black-Cooper-Sander Funeral Home in Hollister.
The family asks, if you feel so moved, to please donate to the Defeat GBM Research Collaborative in his memory.
Rest in eternal glory my Beloved, until we can be in each other’s arms again.
