Lani D. Antonio, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital in Hollister following an extended illness
He leaves his companion, Kathy Kirtley, his uncle, Benjamin Antonio, a brother, Reynaldo and wife, Gail (Baxter), a daughter, Sabrina L, sons, Lani D. Antonio and wife, Emma (Maldonado), Andrew Rensi and wife Liliana (Tinoco) and son, Shawn. Mr. Antonio had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins.
He was born in San Jose, Dec. 9, 1941 to Domingo L. and Connie (Lucido) Antonio. He moved to Watsonville when very young where he lived until moving to Hollister in 1995.
He met his first wife, Sharon L. Foley, while in high school and they married after graduation. He enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served 8 years. Together Lani and Sharon had two children, Sabrina and Lani II.
After serving in the Air Force they moved back to Watsonville. He was employed by Watsonville Community Hospital as an admitting clerk and eventually became certified as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Lani met and married his second wife, Jane of 32 years. They shared one son, Andrew and had one son, Shawn.
Lani took much pride in his military service, participated in parades on Veterans' Day when able and went to great lengths to have the word "Veteran" on his drivers license. He made friends wherever he went and most turned into long lasting relationships.
Mr. Antonio had a passion for flea markets, collectables, cars and Asian arts. He enjoyed going to car shows with his '65 Mustang where he frequently received "Best Mustang" awards.
Friends can pay their respects on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Interment and military rites will be at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, Hecker Pass, Watsonville at 1:30 PM.
