Passed Away On: July 5, 2021

Raymond Velasco passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on July 5, 2021 at his home in Elk Grove, California.
He was born on July 29, 1924 to Guillerma and Jesus Velasco in San Juan Bautista, California. He served in the Army for 24 years, doing his duty in Korea, and World War II receiving two purple hearts, The French Legion of Honor, and various other medals.
In 1954 he married Luisa Eugenia Martinez, in Madrid, Spain. He spent 63 years with her traveling and enjoying life till her death in 2017. He had 3 children, Isabel, Anna, and Fernando. Upon his retirement from the military, he moved his family back to Hollister, where he resided for the next 50 years until he and Luisa moved to Elk Grove in 2014.
He worked for McCormick Selph, Inc., and then the Employment Development Department, in Hollister, California where he retired from.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Luisa Velasco, all of his 5 sisters, Elvira, Mary, Anita, Lupe, Charlotte, and his son-in-law, Jimmy.
He is survived by his three children Isabel, Anna and Fernando, two grandsons, Evan (Katie) and Jerit (Samantha), 4 great grandchildren, Isabella, Zahra, Jianna, and Ashby, his brother Richard, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 19 at 11:30 a.m. at San Juan District Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by Local VFW Post 9242. A Reception will follow at Dona Esters’ Restaurant.
