Ron was born and raised in Antioch, California. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he attended Humboldt and Sacramento State Colleges taking Park Management to become a State Park Ranger. He retired in 1987 after 30 years.
He married Ruth Anthony in 1968 and their son, Jon, was born on 1980 in Hollister.
Ron’s last assignment before retiring as Chief Ranger was at San Juan Bautista State Historic Park where he oversaw Hollister Hills, Fremont Peak, Henry Coe in Morgan Hill and Carnegie on Hwy. 5. He started the popular Living History program in San Juan, organizing historical celebrations, monthly programs and special events. The program began in early 1980 and is still going strong.
Ron will be missed by his wife Ruth, son Jon, sister Luann and her husband Edward Domingo of Lincoln, CA, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 8 at Aris Hanger. 234 Skylane Dr., Hollister Airport beginning 11 a.m. Share memories and stories good food and friendship. Please bring a potluck dish to share with barbeque provided.
