Ruth Dee Gordon (Hollister, California and Castle Rock, Colorado), age 85, passed peacefully on July 24, 2021 in the presence of family and friends.
Ruth was born on October 31, 1935 “Halloween”, in Chicago, Illinois to Frankland W Gordon and Gertrude Perrine Gordon.
She was raised in Arlington, Virginia and graduated Washington Lee High School in 1953. She attended the University of Wisconsin and received her AA from Gavilan College in Gilroy, California. She was an accomplished woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Ruth is survived by her four daughters and their spouses (Debra and Keith Bowman of San Jose, California, Teri McClaflin of Hollister, California, Darla Hope of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Trisha and David Swift of Minneapolis, Minnesota), 10 grandchildren and their spouses (Shawna Compton, Alyssa and Luke Biesecker, Desirey and Michael Van Why, Ryan and Rebecca McClaflin, Thomas and Amy Springer, Kyle and Megan McClaflin, Cory and Amy Bowman, and McKinley, Evan and Carter Swift), 13 Great-Grandchildren (Olivia, Walter, and Emory Biesecker; William, Amrylin, and Warren Van Why; Ethan McClaflin; Ezekiel Springer; Cailin, Robert, and Austin McClaflin; Amelia and Declan Bowman), her niece and nephew (Emalyn and John Gordon), her great niece and nephew (Samantha and Griffin Lay) and numerous friends.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Ruth was an avid reader, puzzle problem solver, crochet/knitter, traveler and technology enthusiast. Ruth had a magnetic personality, made friends easily, and always knew just how to brighten a day/mood up. She knew how to make someone feel like they were the most important person with her love of sitting to have a cup of coffee and a good chat on just about anything. She touched many lives with her generosity and easy smile.
