The San Benito County Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) has released the draft Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan for Frazier Lake Airpark (Compatibility Plan) for public comment. The Compatibility Plan provides guidance for development proposed in the land surrounding Frazier Lake Airpark to ensure the appropriate protection of people within the vicinity of an airport, pilots, as well as the public in general.

A Compatibility Plan focuses on a defined area around each airport known as the Airport Influence Area (AIA). The AIA is comprised of noise, safety, airspace protection and overflight factors, in accordance with guidance from the California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook.

The ALUC has specific limitations, including: having no jurisdiction over the operation of airports
or over existing land uses, regardless of whether or not such uses are incompatible with airport
activities.

San Benito County ALUC has also prepared an environmental document (Initial Study with a Notice of Proposed Negative Declaration) for the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan. An Initial Study is prepared to determine whether the project may have a significant effect on the environment. Under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), a Negative Declaration may be prepared when, based upon substantial evidence in light of the whole record, the project will not have a significant effect on the environment.

A public hearing on the Draft Plans is scheduled at 3:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on October 17, 2019 at the County Board Chambers, located at 481 Fourth Street in Hollister, CA.

Comments must be received at the San Benito County Airport Land Use Commission office. The public review period for the Draft Plans begins September 20, 2019 and ends November 4, 2019 by 5:00 p.m. These documents are available for review at the following locations in Hollister, CA 95023:
