Wilbert White, Jr. 64, resident of Hollister, CA passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2017 at his home with family and friends by his side. Wilbert White Jr., born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 9, 1952, was the second of twin boys born to Rosalie Green and Wilbert White.

He attended Hahnville High School, Boutte Louisiana, graduating in 1971. He went on to earn his Bachelors at Nicholls State University in Health/Physical Education and later graduating with Masters of Science/Education from Walden University.

Wilbert's passion for sports and education was exemplified throughout his life in teaching, writing and coaching. To him this created a balance to character development and a means to enhance leadership. Wilbert taught middle school in the Portland OR School District for over 30 years and in the Morgan Hill School District CA for over 5 years.

Throughout his career, he filled the roles of softball coordinator, league consultant, P.E./Health Teacher, softball coach and umpire. To share his enthusiasm and gift of teaching he authored and published his book entitled The Anatomy of a Sport: Putting a Finished Product on the Field designed to help softball/baseball coaches perfect their sports management on and off the field. Wilbert earned a certificate of recognition for serving as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner for District 5 San Benito County for 5 years.

Even in the midst of his struggles with Prostate cancer he was active in his church and community. His warmth and happiness will be sincerely missed by all. Wilbert is preceded in death by his mother Rosalie Green Curry, Sister Elaine Jackson and brother Gerald Edwards.

Wilbert leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his wife Hazel Winfree-White, his father Wilbert White, his daughter Brandy Cannon, son-in-law Michael Cannon, step son Uriel J Winfree, III. Brothers Bruce, Willard, Ted and sisters-in-law Mary, Jara and Lillian. Sisters Linda Porter and Barbara Edwards. His grandchildren Isaiah, Gabriel, and Grace and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, students and friends.  

Friends can pay their respects on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 8:00PM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Christ Fellowship Church, San Benito Street near Union Road in Hollister. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
