Several devastating fires have roared through California towns in recent years, leaving residents statewide concerned about how to prepare. An upcoming town hall on wildfire preparation and prevention could douse worries in San Benito County.
Representatives from the San Benito Fire Safe Council, Cal Fire, Hollister Fire Department, Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area, American Red Cross, and San Benito County Office of Emergency Services will host a town hall on April 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hollister Hills community room, 7800 Cienega Road.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about wildfire preparation and response in the hazard zones of San Benito County, and what residents and businesses can do to prevent, prepare for, and respond to a wildfire event.
According to a flyer for the town hall meeting, attendees will receive a free AM/FM emergency radio.

The San Benito Fire Safe Council is a nonprofit organization supported by grants and donations from the Community Foundation for San Benito County and others. They meet every third Thursday evening of the month at 5 p.m. on a rotating basis in Aromas, San Juan Bautista and Hollister.
