Man arrested after road rage and gun brandishing

HPD report says Road Rage and Gun Brandishing lead to arrest of man with children and family members in car
Pena was arrested for brandishing a firearm and child endangerment.

Hollister Officers arrested a man Oct. 15 for brandishing a firearm at the driver of another car during a road rage incident. 

A news release from the Hollister Police Department stated, "About 11:30 a.m., a person reported an incident involving the driver of a maroon colored Honda with dealer plates. The suspect driver had allegedly cut off the reporting party’s vehicle as they were traveling on San Felipe Road and the lanes had converged to one lane.  After some hand gestures, the driver of the Honda allegedly brandished a handgun out the window." 

Officer Rudy Rodriguez drove around the area of San Felipe Road looking for the suspects vehicle. Rodriguez was able to locate a maroon Honda with dealer plates in the area of San Felipe Road and Santa Ana Road. The report says he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The report continued that the driver, Fidel Pena (37) from Los Banos, CA, was taken out of the vehicle. It went on to state, "Inside the vehicle was his wife, two teenagers and a four year old child."

According to the report, "Officers recovered a handgun in the vehicle.  During the initial investigation, the family members denied knowing anything about what had occurred.  After further investigation Officers were able to develop evidence to arrest Pena for brandishing a firearm and child endangerment." 

Pina was said to have been transported to the San Benito County Jail and his family was released at the scene. 

The news release from the Hollister Hollister Police Department also requests addition information stating, "Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Officer Rudy Rodriguez at the Hollister Police Department at (831) 636-4331.
