Heated argument allegedly prompted shots to be fired; 38-year-old arrested

Hollister Police announced Friday that they have arrested a man for a shooting that took place in the 500 block of San Benito St. in Hollister on April 3.

According to a police press release, on Monday, a business meeting that was being held in a nearby office became heated and an argument took place between several of the participants.

Two persons attending the meeting left and as they were driving away, shots were fired at a car that was parked along San Benito Street. The car, which belonged to one of the attendees at the meeting, was hit several times.

Hollister Police Detective Martinez investigated the crime, which included a review of the downtown cameras that had recorded the incident. An investigation revealed Adrian Amezcua, 38, as the suspect in this case. 

Police say surveillance was conducted at Amezcua’s home and they were able to contact and arrest him during the early morning hours without incident. Detectives then executed a search warrant at his home. 

Amezcua was booked at the San Benito County Jail and is currently out on bail.
