Amanda Cherny Reyes

Amanda Cherny Reyes passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, 12/25/2021 in New York City.

She was born on May 2, 1984, in Escondido, California but raised in San Jose and Hollister.

Amanda was the loving mother of Emanuel & Alexia Sanchez and Isabella Hernandez. The daughter of Tina Cherny, sister of Daniel & Eric Cherny. She is also survived by her foster mother Victoria Covey, her foster grandmother Mary Coronado, and foster sister Samantha Coronado, foster brother Nathan Coronado.

Amanda graduated from San Andreas High School and following graduation she attended Chico State and transferred to San Jose State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing with an emphasis in critical care. She participated early on in CME Society as a panelist for high school orientation for foster youth. She graduated 2nd in her class and she was a YES Scholar and Foster a Dream Scholarship recipient.

Her education didn’t stop there, in 2021 she attended Vanderbilt University, and received her master’s degree and became a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Nursing was her passion, she was a hard worker and go-getter. She worked hard to give the best to her 3 beautiful children and family. Amanda worked countless hours but on her spare time she loved to spend time with her kids, draw, shop for hours, and go on vacations.

Amanda will be missed and we invite you to a service of remembrance on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Black-Cooper Sanders Funeral Home, Hollister. Interment will soon follow at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
