Barbara Josephine Bravo passed away in Salinas, California on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at the age of 84 years. Barbara was a native of Hollister, California.
She attended local schools and graduated from San Benito High School. Barbara was a member of Y.L.I., Grandmother’s Club, Portuguese Ladies Social Group, Sacred Heart Church, and joined Friends Forever where she traveled to the casinos on bus trips. Barbara enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, cooking, and traveling.
Barbara was a telephone operator in the 1950s when she graduated from high school. When the telephone company automated, she retired. She was a homemaker, and a caregiver for her sister, Mary Louise Frates. She worked as a cashier at K&S for many years.
Barbara was the wife of the late Ray Bravo, who passed away in 2002; The mother of the late: Michael, and Raymond Bravo; Sister of the late Ida Grant, and Joanne Pettie.
Barbara was the grandmother of: Robert, Salena, and Michelle Bravo and the late Raymond Bravo III; Great Grandmother to Salvador, Jabarious, Jalena, and Iasic. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held later on at Sacred Heart Church to celebrate Barbara’s life. Private interment will be held at the family plot at Calvary Cemetery.
The family request donations in Barbara’s memory be made to Saint Benedict’s Church, The Diabetes Association, or the Heart Fund.
