David Robles Ramirez has been called upon by our Lord on June 18, 2021 at the age of 63. He was born to Manuel and Cristina Ramirez in Tijuana, Baja California on November 23, 1957. They relocated to Hollister in 1958 where David was raised. David was a graduate from San Benito Joint Union High School class of 1976.
David was a team player who loved sports. He played Little League for San Benito County in 1969, Babe Ruth and Hollister City League in 1975. David also played on the “Liga Obrera” Pacific Coast Mexican League along with his brothers. He coached for Tri-County Youth Basketball in 1994 and 1995. David was a fan of WWF, Lucha Libre and Boxing. He also enjoyed working on cars; he did auto shop (painting). He fixed his 1954 Chevy Bel Air which was his pride and joy. He was also a member of the car club “Los Requerdos”.
Music was David’s therapy. He loved all types of musical genres from Rock to Christian. In his youth he collected 45’s. He was a self-taught drummer. He later played in the Christian Choir “Teen Challenge”. David enjoyed attending music concerts, from the group Kiss to Mana. David was an avid SF Giants fan. He frequently attended the games along with his family. He was at Candlestick Park attending the World Series when the 1989 earthquake hit. That was an experience he would never forget. He was also a devoted Raiders fan.
David was a hard dedicated worker. At a young age he contributed to the household by working along his sibling in the agricultural fields. He would also work summer jobs. He would later become a skilled Forklift driver for Gentry’s/Gilroy Foods for over 25 years. He also worked for Guerra Nut Shelling Company. David enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
David is survived by his daughter Maria Cristina Gastelum (Andrew) and son David Onofre Ramirez. His father Manuel Ramirez and his former spouse Beatrice Gonzales-Ramirez. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Aaliyah, Andrew, Angelina, Davian, Valerie, and Kayne. David was the eldest of eight children. His siblings are Manuel, Teresa Porcello, Rosalva, Lupe Chattin, Gustavo (Gracie), Albert (Veronika) and Eulalia Perez (Miguel). He leaves behind a large extended family. David is preceded in death by his mother Cristina.
David was a warm-hearted and charming man. He was a friendly person who loved to conversate and make others laugh. David was a loving and caring man who was devoted to his family. He was a person of faith who believed in our Lord Jesus Christ. God had a different plan for him. David will truly be missed. He will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be said at 6:00 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.
Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Cremation will follow the mass.
