Herlinda C. Acosta

Herlinda C. Acosta passed on February 1, 2022, at the age of 89 at her home in Hollister, California .

Herlinda was born in Julimes, Chihuahua to Jesus Carrasco Porras and Guadalupe Saenz on May 12, 1932.

She was a cannery worker for the local canneries for over 30 years. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed spending many hours pruning her roses, planting geraniums in every color possible. Her Calla Lily’s, Birds of Paradise and countless other favorites were simply gorgeous. She took pride in her “weed free” yard.

When she wasn’t gardening, she loved to cook for her entire family. Always making sure everyone has “enough,” and “enough,” to take home for later.

Herlinda is survived by her husband of 66 years, Federico Acosta; eight children: Olivia (Joe); Josie (Rafael); Fred, Patricia, David, Sandra, Cesar (Cathy); and Annabel. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 21 great-Grandchildren; and one Great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In Lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
