Ruth Luna Duarte passed away at her place of residence in Hollister, California on December 28, 2020 at the age of 91.
Ruth “Cuca” Luna Duarte passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 28th, 2020 at the age of 91. She was the matriarch of her family and the last surviving sibling of her generation. Ruth was born in Los Angeles, California. She moved north through California growing up until her family settled in San Juan Bautista.
Ruth lived most of her life in San Juan Bautista and Hollister. She met her husband and best friend of 66 years while attending a local dance. Ruth was an amazing Mother, Grandmother and Aunt. She enjoyed being with her family. Seeing her grandchildren especially brought her great joy. She showed her love through cooking. No one could leave her home without a full stomach. Refusing to eat was not an option. She enjoyed eating out and attending family gatherings.
Family and friends were very important to her. She was always happy to step in as a maternal figure for those who needed her most. Her family cherished her sense of humor.
She will be truly missed by her husband, Augustine Duarte; Daughter Ruth Cindy Duarte, Son Augustine Lara Duarte; Grandchildren Leon Vasquez, Johnnie Duarte, Priscilla Metzer, Amanda Iboa, Shawnte Larios; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
