SUMMARY:Valentines Dinner Dance in San Juan Bautista Friday\, 2/14/25
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun-filled night! Traditional SJB Fiesta chicken BBQ dinner\, silent auction\, lover’s photo booth\, bake sale & dancing to rockin country band “Spit ‘N Mud” all to benefit the maintenance and restoration efforts of the Native Daughters of the Golden West San Juan Bautista Parlor adobe home. Our historic Adobe Home located at 203 4th street was built in 1836 and is a focal point in California history. This event will help us keep this 188 year old icon of San Juan Bautista in beautiful condition for future generations to know and learn about early California history during the Nuevo Espana era. \nOur Adobe Home History: The Adobe was home to many – Rafael Pico\, a Basque sheep rancher from the Pyrenees\, Maria Boronda who was granted the property from the San Juan Bautista Alcalde (Mayor) in 1849\, Jose Maria Espinosa in 1851\, Ignacio Castro who purchase it for $600 in 1864\, Edward Joseph Breen\, member of the Donner Party\, in 1878. It was sold to J.G. Sanchez in 1883 and then to Jose Maria Sanchez in 1887 who lost it to the California government for back payment of taxes. In 1904 Benigno Soto received the property and sold it to his relative Edward Dowdy in 1907. \nIn 1933\, the members of the Native Daughters of the Golden West\, San Juan Bautista Parlor No.179 purchased what at the time was the dilapidated relic of the Pico Boronda Adobe. This investment was made as a first step in reclaiming one more important piece of San Juan Bautista history. \nVeneration of California Pioneers is one of the principles adopted in 1886 upon the founding of the Order of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. The Native Daughters of the Golden West is a fraternal and patriotic organization founded on the principles of Love of Home\, Devotion to the Flag\, Veneration of the Pioneers\, & Faith in the Existence of God. \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/valentines-dinner-dance-supporting-native-daughters-of-the-golden-west-sjb-tickets-1112849866909?aff=oddtdtcreator
