Hollister Police confirmed three businesses were burglarized May 19.

Sgt. Bo Leland told BenitoLink two suspects used a spark plug to shatter the glass doors at the front of El Grullense Restaurant, Wong’s Garden Restaurant and Calavera Coffee on Hwy 25 south of Sunnyslope Road.

Leland said cash and business-related items were taken. He said the department does not disclose how much cash or value of items that were taken.

“There were no alarm activations that occurred as a result of the incident and the owners of each of the businesses discovered the burglaries in the mornings,” Leland said.

He added the suspects were wearing ski masks at the time of the incident and that security cameras either in or outside the businesses captured their actions.

Leland said as of May 23, there have been no arrests.

“We are following up on physical evidence we located at the scene,” he said, “but cannot elaborate on what that evidence is at this time.”

Calaveras Coffee and Wong’s Garden owners declined to provide comment to BenitoLink. The El Grullense owner was not available for comment. In addition to these businesses, there are five other shops in that strip.
